Bayer Leverkusen 1 - 2 Koln: Dominic Maroh double sees Cologne down Rhine rivals Bayer Leverkusen

Cologne beat their local rivals Bayer Leverkusen in the Rhine derby thanks to two goals from Dominic Maroh.

Leverkusen, who saw their Champions League campaign suffer a setback with a 3-2 defeat to Roma in midweek, fell behind to Maroh's volley in the 17th minute.

Javier Hernandez levelled matters with a header in the 33rd minute, but a red card for Kyriakos Papadopoulos hardly helped their cause.

Maroh went close to giving Cologne the lead again just a minute before he did find the back of the net for the second time, with a header from Marcel Risse's cross.

It was enough for all three points as the Goats moved above their hosts and rivals to seventh in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
