Celta Vigo vs Valencia - Dani Parejo seeking successful solution ahead of Celta clash

Valencia captain Dani Parejo admits the team has lost its way and needs to quickly find a solution if the club is to avoid a downward spiral.

Los Che go into Saturday's Primera Division match at high-fliers Celta Vigo after Wednesday's dismal performance at Gent in the Champions League.

The Spaniards travelled to Belgium knowing that a win would see them through to the round of 16 but they took just one shot on goal and lost 1-0 for their second defeat in the competition.

Valencia coach Nuno Espirito Santo described his team's performance in midweek as "embarrassing".

"We didn't deserve to win," Parejo told Marca. "We were overcome in every facet of the game.

"We lacked confidence. I don't know what the solution is. The team doesn't play well and we don't give out a good feeling.

"We seem to complicate our lives in every game. We have to react. We cannot continue like this because we are not going anywhere."

Valencia finished fourth in La Liga last season in Nuno's first year in charge.

However, they have endured a slow start to the domestic campaign, prevailing in just one of their opening five games.

Los Che have won just once on the road in La Liga and have had to rely on their unbeaten run at home.

Last weekend's 3-0 victory over Levante in the derby lifted Valencia to seventh in the standings although they have scored just 11 goals in the domestic competition.

The club's fans were fuming after Nuno decided for a fifth straight game to leave Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo out of his squad selection for technical reasons.

Negredo spent last season on loan at Valencia and then became the club's most expensive signing when Los Che made his move permanent by paying 30million euros to Manchester City this summer.

The 30-year-old has not featured for the club since claiming in an interview that he was playing out of position.

"Negredo is training well and he is a professional," Parejo said. "But the coach is the one that decides."

Celta are hoping they will not receive a backlash from Valencia.

"It is never a good time to face Valencia," Celta defender Jonny told Marca. "Valencia are not going through a good spell and have received a lot of criticism for their play and results.

"But they are still one of the top teams and will be anxious to turn in a good performance against us."

Celta bounced back from their first defeat of the campaign, a 3-1 home loss to Real Madrid, with a 3-2 triumph at Real Sociedad last time out.

The Galician outfit is third in the standings, three points adrift of league leaders Real and Barcelona.

The visitors are without Argentinian midfielder Enzo Perez, who is suspended.
