Cardiff City vs Reading - Kenwyne Jones poised for Cardiff return against Reading

Shot-shy Cardiff could unleash Kenwyne Jones on visiting Reading.

Jones made his first appearance in a month as a substitute at Leeds on Tuesday and could start if there is no adverse reaction to his shin injury.

Peter Whittingham is suspended after collecting five bookings, meaning a likely rejig that could bring chances for Anthony Pilkington, Sammy Ameobi or Matty Kennedy.

Kagisho Dikgacoi has missed two games with a hamstring injury, while Idriss Saadi continues his recovery from a lengthy knee problem.

Reading boss Steve Clarke revealed he has a lengthy injury list ahead of the trip.

Clarke will be without long-term absentees Aaron Tshibola, Hal Robson-Kanu (both ankle) and Stephen Quinn (knee) once again.

But he also revealed that four other players sustained injuries during the 2-2 draw with Huddersfield on Tuesday night, although the Scot did not want to name names.

Ola John is pushing for a start in attack after climbing off the bench to score the equaliser in midweek.
