Huddersfield Town vs Leeds United - Jamie Paterson racing to be fit for Huddersfield's local derby against Leeds

Huddersfield striker Jamie Paterson is hoping to shake off a knock in time for the visit of derby rivals Leeds.

Paterson, on loan from Nottingham Forest, was forced off in the midweek draw at Reading after scoring the opening goal, but interim boss Mark Lillis expects him to train on Friday.

Lillis will be without central defender Joel Lynch, who received his fifth yellow card of the season on Tuesday night, so Murray Wallace and Tommy Smith are vying for a place in the starting line-up.

Midfielder Dean Whitehead will return to contention after serving a one-game ban, but midfielder Jonathan Hogg (thigh) and winger Sean Scannell (hamstring) are not expected to feature. New Terriers head coach David Wagner will officially start work on Monday.

Leeds skipper Sol Bamba and midfielder Tom Adeyemi will both return to contention.

Centre-back Bamba missed the midweek home win against Cardiff through suspension and on-loan Adeyemi was ineligible to face his parent club.

Giuseppe Bellusci is expected to make way for Bamba, while head coach Steve Evans faces a dilemma over whether to recall Adeyemi after his replacement on Tuesday night, Alex Mowatt, scored a stunning winning goal.

Defender Sam Byram, wingers Jordan Botaka and Will Buckley, plus midfielder Kalvin Phillips are all pushing for recalls as Leeds chase back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
