Zenit St Petersburg coach Andre Villas-Boas hopes his side can finish the job and book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Russians travel to take on bottom side Lyon knowing a win will secure their passage out of Group H with two games to spare.
Villas-Boas, who revealed Brazilian forward Hulk is fit for the clash, said at his pre-match press conference: "We are in a good position but we want to qualify as soon as possible.
"Lyon will press high, they have nothing to lose. With one point we are nearly through.
"Lyon are on a good run in the league. For us it is a little different. But we are very focused on the Champions League and we expect that those positive results can have an influence on Lyon's game."
Lyon coach Hubert Fournier is taking a novel approach to what amounts to a must-win game for the basement boys, who have just one point to their name so far.
"We need to be optimistic and play with 'organised craziness'," he said at his pre-match press conference.
"We want to show that we are worth more than what we have shown. It is up to us to be 100 per cent and have no regrets in the end.
"Going through will be difficult, we will need to play a crazy game against Zenit - a team with world-class players. We are under pressure, we have no last chance."
Defender Henri Bedimo admits his side are drinking in the last-chance saloon.
"The number of points we have is not enough so it's a knock-out game for us," the Cameroon international told his club's website.
"We are aware of what to do, we play cup games in France. If it does not go our way it will be almost a farewell to the Champions League."
