Calderon: Nobody to blame for Bale injury

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has leapt to the defence of the Football Association of Wales after they were accused of contributing to Gareth Bale's injury.

Calderon believes nobody is to blame for Bale's injury as a coach wouldn't risk the most expensive footballer in the world if they did not believe he was fit.

"There's no one to blame for that," Calderon told BBC Football. "There can be no doubt that the coach [Wales] Chris Coleman and the player decided to play because they thought he was fit.

"It was a very important moment for him and for Wales.

"Other teams have had the same problems with injuries in the national and it's part of the game."

Former Wales defender Danny Gabbidon has suggested that Chris Coleman should experiment with his team selection in the absence of Bale for their upcoming friendly against the Netherlands next Friday.

"That one might have come a little bit too quick for him this time," Gabbidon said.

"You always want your best players there and it's something Chris Coleman is just going to have to deal with.

"It is a chance to maybe to put other players in and experiment, maybe with a different formation."
