Bastia 1 - 0 Caen: Bastia end barren run with victory over Caen

Bastia put an end to a run of three straight Ligue 1 defeats with a hard-fought 1-0 win over surprise package Caen.

The hosts had failed to score in any competition since September but the Corsicans broke that hoodoo just after the half-hour mark when Sadio Diallo's free-kick evaded everyone including Remy Vercoutre before nestling in the back of the net.

The visitors went closest to a leveller just after the hour mark when Andy Delort headed Dennis Appiah's delivery goalwards but Jean-Louis Leca made a superb stop to keep Caen at bay.

Both sides had opportunities in the latter stages but Bastia's Florian Raspentino was denied when Vercoutre made a decent reflex save before Leca prevented a disaster at the other end as Francois Modesto almost put the ball beyond his own keeper.
