Middlesbrough vs Charlton Athletic - Aitor Karanka could ring changes after Middlesbrough's midweek heroics

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka must decide how much Wednesday's penalty shootout win over Manchester United has taken out of his side as they prepare to welcome Charlton.

Goalkeeper Tomas Mejias was one of the heroes in midweek but is likely to make way for number one Dimi Konstantopoulos, while Adam Clayton, David Nugent, Fernando Amorebieta and Diego Fabbrini are all ready to return to the starting XI if required.

New signing Bruno Zuculini may make his full debut having signed a month-long loan from Manchester City.

Albert Adomah is battling back from an ankle problem but Christian Stuani (groin and hamstring), Damia Abella (knee), Alex Baptiste (broken leg) and Rhys Williams (Achilles) are longer-term absentees.

Karel Fraeye takes charge of Charlton following boss Guy Luzon's sacking last weekend.

Fraeye has been named interim head coach and inherits a side in the bottom three following 10 matches without a win.

The Belgian is still without last season's top scorer Igor Vetokele, although the Angolan striker is closing in on a return after six weeks out a groin injury.

Ahmed Kashi (heel), Cristian Ceballos (fibula) and Regan Charles-Cook (ankle) are also on the sidelines.
