Gillingham vs Southend United - Ryan Jackson back for leaders Gillingham

Sky Bet League One leaders Gillingham will welcome defender Ryan Jackson back from suspension when they face Southend at Priestfield Stadium on Saturday.

Jackson missed the late midweek win over Scunthorpe which sealed top spot but boss Justin Edinburgh may be tempted to make some changes.

Josh Wright is set to miss out following his late sending-off in midweek pending the result of a possible appeal by the Kent side.

And Edinburgh may hand starting berths to Ben Dickenson and Jermaine McGlashan, both of whom turned the Scunthorpe match in their side's favour after their respective introductions at half-time.

Southend manager Phil Brown hinted he would make changes to the side that lost 3-0 at Chesterfield on Tuesday.

The defeat was only the Shrimpers' second in eight matches and could see the likes of Luke O'Neill, David Worrall, Adam Thompson and Gary Deegan given a chance to impress this weekend.

Striker Noel Hunt remains a doubt with a foot problem while the game will also come too soon for defender Adam Barrett, who has a hamstring injury.

The loss in midweek has seen Southend drop to eighth in the table.
