The Premier League leaders have struggled at home in the Champions League and appeared to be heading for a draw until the £55 million summer signing showed his class
Kevin De Bruyne's brilliant stoppage-time strike sealed a come-from-behind 2-1 victory for Manchester City against Sevilla on Wednesday evening, as the Premier League leaders moved to within a point of Group leaders Juventus.
The Europa League holders frustrated and stiffled the hosts inititially, with summer signing Yevhen Konoplyanka opening the scoring on the half-hour mark, stepping onto a pull-back and rifling the ball past Joe Hart.
City refused to let their heads drop, though, and drew level within minutes as the match became even more frantic and end-to-end; superb work from Yaya Toure prompted a goal mouth scramble, with Wilfried Bony's slash at the ball deflecting off defender Adil Rami and into the back of the net.
The match appeared to be heading for a draw until De Bruyne stepped up to show why City forked out £55 million on him, collecting the ball down the right flank and steering a venomous left-footed shot into the bottom corner to seal a dramatic victory.
