Bolton Wanderers vs Birmingham - Bolton wait on Jay Spearing

Bottom-of-the-table Bolton are waiting to see how Jay Spearing recovers from his injury ahead of Birmingham's visit, although his problem does not appear to be as bad as first feared.

The midfielder and former Wanderers captain was forced off in the first half of the 2-0 loss to Burnley on Saturday amid fears over a possible fractured leg, but boss Neil Lennon has revealed there is no break and it looks more like nerve damage, meaning he could be back in action this week.

Full-back Dean Moxey was absent at Turf Moor and will be assessed again after Lennon said he has needed injections to play through a toe injury in recent weeks.

Forward Zach Clough, who on Monday signed another long-term deal at the Macron Stadium, is definitely missing with a long-term shoulder injury.

Birmingham winger David Cotterill will miss the trip to the Trotters despite returning to light training.

The Wales international suffered a hamstring injury in the win over Leeds at the start of the month but could be fit for Saturday's trip to Hull.

Demarai Gray is fit though after being taken off in Saturday's win over QPR with what Gary Rowett described as a "whack" and has trained ahead of the game.

Neal Eardley has resumed training with the under-21 squad and boss Rowett is expecting the defender to be in the squad for the game at the KC Stadium.
