Airdrie United 1 - 0 Brechin City: Liam Watt strike hands Airdrie victory over Brechin

Posted Sunday, October 18, 2015 by PA

Airdrie dug in to see off a revitalised Brechin side 1-0 at the Excelsior Stadium.

The Glebe Park side had responded to losing their first eight fixtures with a handy three-match unbeaten run, and troubled the hosts with early efforts from Robert Thomson and Craig Molloy.

In truth it was a drab first half, but it took Airdrie just two minutes to break the deadlock after the interval. Liam Watt planted his right foot nicely on a Taylor Morgan cross to give Gary Bollan's men the edge.

Both sides had plenty of half chances in the remainder of the match, but the hosts worked hard to end a three-match winless streak.
