Dagenham and Redbridge 0 - 1 Hartlepool United FC: Billy Paynter header enough for Hartlepool

Billy Paynter's sixth goal of the season was enough to earn Hartlepool their second win since the start of September, while Dagenham are still searching for a first home win of the campaign.

It took just 30 seconds for the first shot of the game, as Hartlepool winger Jake Carroll's effort from outside the box ended up going inches wide of the right-hand post.

Daggers had a good chance to score in the fifth minute when the ball fell to Ashley Chambers. He raced forward and unleashed a shot from outside the box which was not too far wide.

Minutes later Pools' goalkeeper Trevor Carson pulled off a great save as Justin Hoyte tested him with a shot from distance.

It was the visitors who took the lead in the 34th minute as Dan Jones whipped in a great ball for Paynter to head into the top-left corner from the centre of the box.

Jamie Cureton and Jodi Jones had the best chances to score in the second half for Dagenham but Hartlepool defended well to earn them the three points.
