Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be looking to back up his claims of a title challenge with a win over Watford in the Premier League at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

The Gunners moved to within two points of Manchester City at the top of the standings with an emphatic 3-0 win over Manchester United, that made the world sit up and take notice, shortly before the international break.

In the lead up to the fixture against Watford, Wenger has been confidently talking up the club's title credentials and, on current form, it's difficult to argue.

"I think we are back in contention and we have a good chance. All of our numbers confirm that we have the potential to be in the fight," he told reporters before the game.

However, it does create an unnecessary amount of pressure ahead of what probably would've been seen by Arsenal as an easy win when they looked at the fixture list at the start of the season.

Watford, picked as an early relegation favourite, have impressed in their early games, are riding high in 12th place with 10 points from the first eight Premier League games and will be confident of holding their own on home soil.

The Hornets will have to make do without injured trio Ikechi Anya, Valon Behrami and Allan Nyom, who are not expected to feature, despite all three sitting out the international break too.

In-form Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez is also doubtful because of a hip problem aggravated on international duty with Chile, while Laurent Koscielny is unlikely to feature because of a hamstring injury.

However, Mattieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta are both back in contention for Arsenal after recovering from a hamstring strain and a dead leg respectively.
