Newport County vs Portsmouth : On-loan duo Tommy O'Sullivan and Jazzi Barnum-Bobb set for Newport debuts

Newport are set to hand debuts to Tommy O'Sullivan and Jazzi Barnum-Bobb against Portsmouth on Saturday.

The young Cardiff pair joined the Sky Bet Football League's bottom club on loan in midweek with new manager John Sheridan keen to strengthen a squad which has taken only six points from its first 12 games.

Striker O'Sullivan, who was last week named the Welsh young player of the year, had loan experience at Port Vale last season while defender Barnum-Bobb started two League Cup ties for Cardiff in the 2014-15 campaign.

Andrew Hughes (knee) and Nathan Ralph (hamstring) have both returned to training after long-term injuries but are at least a fortnight away from making their first starts of the season.

Portsmouth manager Paul Cook must juggle several selection problems as his team look to maintain their challenge for promotion.

Jayden Stockley and Adam McGurk are both absent owing to ankle injuries.

Because of knee injuries, Paul Jones and Jack Whatmough are also out.

Gareth Evans begins his three-match ban following last week's red card at Cambridge, though there could be a debut for Caolan Lavery after he arrived on loan from Sheffield Wednesday
