Raul announces imminent retirement:

New York Cosmos star Raul Gonzalez revealed to One World Sports that he will be retiring at the end of the current North American Soccer League (NASL) season in November.

"It's not an easy moment, but I think it's the right moment to say goodbye", Raul acknowledged, adding that it was a "difficult decision".

The Spanish icon is all set to bring down the curtain on a stellar 21-year playing career in which he became a legend for Real Madrid before enjoying an Indian summer at German side Schalke and a stint in Qatar prior to heading Stateside. Raul, who also represented Spain with great distinction, could yet stick around in New York to work with the Cosmos' academy.
