Jurgen Klopp set to upset Jose Mourinho as Liverpool eye Chelsea target

LIVERPOOL are weighing up a move for Porto midfielder Ruben Neves, according to reports.

The highly-rated youngster has been a summer transfer target of Jose Mourinho's with them reportedly prepared to launch a £29million bid.

But newly appointed Jurgen Klopp has also set his sights on the 18-year-old, according to the Daily Mirror.

Neves featured in Porto's 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the Champions League this season

The German sent scouts to watch Neves play in Portugal's Under 21 match against Hungary on Friday night.

The Portugal Under 21 international made 31 appearances for Porto in all competitions last season, scoring one goal.

Klopp also has plans to improve his attacking options with Swansea striker Andre Ayew a January target.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager takes charge of his first Premier League game against Tottenham on Saturday as his team travel to White Hart Lane.
