Shrewsbury Town 4 - 2 Colchester United : Shrewsbury produce spirited second-half fightback to topple Colchester

Shrewsbury brilliantly stormed back from 2-0 down at half-time to beat Colchester 4-2 in Sky Bet League One.

Substitutes Tyrone Barnett and Sullay Kaikai, introduced by manager Micky Mellon at the break, both scored twice for the hard-working hosts.

Colchester had looked the more threatening before the break, stunning Town by scoring twice inside three minutes towards the end of the first half.

The visitors took the lead in the 36th minute when Gavin Massey's strong run down the right and dangerous low cross was steered into his own net by Shrewsbury defender Mark Ellis.

The Essex club quickly doubled their advantage when central defender Tom Eastman instinctively back-heeled home after Shrewsbury were caught out by a corner.

But it was a different story after the restart with Shrewsbury a different team once Barnett climbed highest at the far post to head in a Larnell Cole cross from the left a minute into the second period.

Barnett then controlled a teasing cross from Ian Black to fire Shrewsbury level with a cool finish just before the hour.

Kaikai, on loan from Crystal Palace, completed the fightback with a measured 73rd-minute shot, racing on to a pass from Cole and rounding goalkeeper Jamie Jones to score.

Kaikai was still not done, though, and nine minutes from time he latched on to a pass from Liam Lawrence to drill in a fourth for Shrewsbury.
