Schalke 04 0 : 3 Koln - On-song Cologne end Schalke's six-match winning streak

Posted Sunday, October 04, 2015 by PA

Cologne brought an abrupt end to Schalke's six-game winning streak with an emphatic 3-0 win at the Arena AufSchalke.

After going close on two occasions to beating Ralf Fahrmann, Anthony Modeste finally found the back of the net on the stroke of half-time with his low shot hitting the underside of the Schalke goalkeeper's body with the ball looping into the roof of the net.

Yannick Gerhardt, who had been a thorn in Schalke's side, doubled the Goats' advantage before substitute Simon Zoller sealed a deserved away win for Peter Stoger's men, who have now won their last three meetings with the Royal Blues.

Schalke were not at the races and could have no complaints about losing, and missing an opportunity to move up to second.
