Burton Albion FC vs Southend United - Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink monitoring several for Southend clash

Posted Friday, October 02, 2015 by PA

Burton boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will check on a handful of players before his league leaders host Southend.

The Dutchman did not name names but he revealed at his press conference on Wednesday that there were "a few sore bodies" following the goalless home draw against Sheffield United the previous night.

Jerome Binnom-Williams came off at half-time in that game but it was a tactical switch. However, back-up goalkeeper Dean Lyness has a problem with his arm and midfielder Callum Reilly has been nursing a knock recently.

Zeli Ismail is back in training, although the on-loan Wolves winger will not be rushed back from the knee injury he sustained during pre-season.

Southend manager Phil Brown could welcome back two players for the clash as the Shrimpers look for a fourth consecutive victory.

Winger Stephen McLaughlin has missed the last three matches with a virus but has returned to training and is in contention.

Defender John White has also trained this week and could feature but Noel Hunt is a doubt after taking a knock against against Crewe on Tuesday.

Adam Barrett and Kevan Hurst are both out with hamstring and knee injuries respectively.
