Bristol City vs Milton Keynes Dons - Bristol City won't risk Korey Smith against MK Dons

Bristol City midfielder Korey Smith will not be risked against MK Dons unless he proves to manager Steve Cotterill that he is 100 per cent fit.

The Sky Bet Championship's bottom two clubs meet at Ashton Gate on Saturday having failed to take their promotion-winning form from last season into the new campaign.

Smith suffered a groin injury in the home defeat to Reading two weeks ago and missed the Robins' encouraging 2-2 draw at Ipswich last weekend.

If Cotterill decides Smith is not fit enough to start then Joe Bryan will continue in an unfamiliar central midfield position with Derrick Williams again deployed at left-back.

Nicky Maynard will hope to make his full debut for MK Dons against his former club.

The striker, a prolific goal scorer for the Robins during his time at Ashton Gate between 2008 and 2012, has featured twice from the bench since joining the Dons last month on a deal until the end of the season.

Milton Keynes manager Karl Robinson has no new problems as he looks to arrest a five-game losing run in the Championship.

Samir Carruthers completes a three-match suspension while knee injuries continue to rule out Cody Cropper, Mark Randall, Dale Jennings, Darren Potter and Joe Walsh.
