Steven Gerrard claims Jose Mourinho would be a good fit for Liverpool

Steven Gerrard believes Jose Mourinho would be an excellent fit for Liverpool if the current Chelsea boss fancies a stint at Anfield in the future.

Gerrard admitted he would have enjoyed playing under Mourinho - it almost happened after the all-action midfielder submitted a transfer request in a bid to join the Blues in 2005 - and believes the revered Portuguese coach would be able to work his magic on Merseyside.

The 35-year-old is now plying his trade away from Anfield, with Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy, but still keeps a close eye on his former employers and teammates from his new home in the United States

In an interview with the BBC - per the Express - Gerrard was asked if there’s a chance Mourinho will manage Liverpool one day, to which he replied: "Who knows? Who knows?

"Why wouldn't he [be a good fit]? He's one of the best managers in the world, so of course he would be a good fit."
