Wycombe Wanderers 1 - 0 Cambridge United: Wycombe go top after beating Cambridge

Michael Harriman's second-half goal sent Wycombe to the top of League Two as they edged past 10-man Cambridge 1-0 at Adams Park.

Harriman rifled home with 20 minutes remaining after Cambridge goalkeeper Chris Dunn had earlier been sent off for a foul on Gozie Ugwu - although Garry Thompson saw the resultant penalty saved by Sam Beasant.

Wycombe had the early chances as captain Joe Jacobson put a free-kick over and Stephen McGinn also fired over.

The Chairboys then wasted two glorious opportunities just before the break as Ugwu's effort deflected wide and a long-range effort from Harriman forced Dunn into a good save.

The game changed in the 53rd minute when Dunn saw red after bringing down Ugwu in the box with George Taft's poor back-header causing the danger.

Substitute Beasant went low to his right to repel Thompson's spot-kick before the hosts hit the bar twice in a minute through midfielder Marcus Bean.

The, in the 70th minute, Harriman scored the decisive goal with a precise, right-footed strike into the far corner.
