Plymouth Argyle 2 - 1 Barnet: Plymouth fight back to beat Barnet

Posted Wednesday, September 30, 2015 by PA

Jake Jervis' seventh goal of the season enabled high-flying Plymouth to secure a 2-1 comeback win over Barnet in League Two at Home Park.

The Bees took a 30th-minute lead following a superb left-wing run by skipper Curtis Weston, who outstripped the home defence before teeing up Aaron McLean, who needed one touch to smash the ball into the roof of the net from 15 yards.

McLean was replaced by substitute Mauro Vilhete after 42 minutes and he had a 51st-minute shot cleared off the line by home captain Curtis Nelson after striker John Akinde's measured effort came back off the inside of the post.

Two minutes later Graham Carey levelled with a 20-yard strike into the top corner, his fifth goal of the season.

A brilliant sweeping length of the pitch move started by Gary Sawyer's block on Akinde then resulted in Jervis hooking the ball home past his marker after 61 minutes to turn the game on its head.

In stoppage time, Vilhete's deflected strike beat goalkeeper Luke McCormick but came back off the upright.
