Lionel Messi injury another turn of 'bad luck' for Barcelona - Busquets

Lionel Messi's injury in Barcelona's 2-1 win against Las Palmas this weekend was more early-season "bad luck," according to teammate Sergio Busquets.

The injury occured early in the match and Messi, who tried to continue initially, was eventually substituted in the 10th minute for Munir El Haddadi.

It is the latest in a series of setbacks for Barcelona, who have already had midfielder Rafinha ruled out for six months with a knee injury, while Dani Alves and Claudio Bravo have also had to spend time on the sidelines.

Busquets told Canal Plus: "We know that if Leo complains then something's wrong.

"He's the best player in the world, our best player. We're having bad luck with injuries and more so when we can't register or sign any replacements."

The Spaniard talked about his team's bounce-back win, after an embarrassing midweek loss to Celta Vigo with a final scoreline of 4-1.

"In the second half, we were much better than in the first. We had some chances and even missed a penalty, but a silly move [Jonathan Viera's goal] meant we suffered for the final five minutes.

"Still, the worst news is the injury to our best player.

"We let three important points go at a difficult venue [Balaidos], but luckily we were able to win [on Saturday].

"Now we're thinking about our next match in the Champions League."

Barcelona face Group E leaders Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.
