Montpellier 2 - 1 Lorient : Montpellier climb off the bottom with much-needed win over Lorient

Montpellier moved off the bottom of Ligue 1 after claiming their first three points of the season with a 2-1 win over Lorient.

Despite being pegged back by Rafidine Abdullah's leveller just after the interval, La Pallaide's Jonas Martin first time effort from Jerome Roussillon's cross was enough to bring relief to boss Rolland Courbis.

Ramy Bensebaini had given the hosts an early boost when his header looped over Benjamin Lecomte to send Montpellier into a seven-minute lead.

Abdullah's wonderful 20-yard effort on 48 minutes restored recent doubts for the hosts before hero Martin struck nine minutes later to move Montpellier above bottom two Troyes and Ajaccio.
