Exeter City 0 - 2 Wycombe Wanderers : Wycombe end Exeter's unbeaten home run

Posted Sunday, September 27, 2015 by PA

Exeter's unbeaten home record was brought to an end by Wycombe, who were 2-0 winners at St James' Park.

Exeter dominated the first half in which they felt a number of decisions went against them. Joel Grant had their best chance to score, getting on the end of a lovely passing move, but he blazed high from 12 yards.

City felt Marcus Bean should have been sent off for an ugly tackle on David Wheeler, but referee Stephen Martin only gave him a yellow.

Martin then waved away penalty claims from Exeter on the stroke of half-time when Jordan Moore-Taylor was pulled back inside the penalty box as he was trying to hammer home a loose ball.

Wycombe opened the scoring five minutes into the second half when Lee Holmes conceded a free-kick 20 yards out and Joe Jacobson curled a fine effort over the Exeter wall and into the corner.

Wycombe then doubled their lead on 57 minutes when Grant's error gifted Michael Harriman possession and he squared for Garry Thompson to run through and drill the ball into the corner.

Exeter dominated the last half hour but rarely tested Matt Ingram in the Wycombe goal.
