Manchester United transfer news: Bid readied for star with £26m release clause

Manchester United look set to face competition from Valencia for the possible January signing of £26m-rated Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan.
The La Liga outfit are one of a number of admirers of the Argentine international, who has become widely regarded as one of the best players in the Portuguese top flight in recent years.
Having lost players like Angel Di Maria and Nani in the summer, United could still do with a player like Gaitan, and were thought to be eyeing him up at various points in the transfer window.
However, a deal never materialised, and Valencia could now take advantage by activating the wide-man’s £26m release clause, according to Spanish source Fichajes.net.
