Phil Thompson believes Liverpool have to quickly snap out of their recent mediocre run.
The Reds drew 1-1 with Norwich City at Anfield on Sunday which saw them drop to 13th on the Premier League table following back-to-back defeats to West Ham United and Manchester United.
With important matches against Aston Villa and the Merseyside derby with Everton ahead, former Anfield hero Thompson has implored Brendan Rodgers to lead the team out of the mire before the season gets away from them.
"Liverpool were very unfortunate and are obviously going through a difficult time right now," he said on Sky Sports.
"It was one of those games and while it was a good performance, you feel like they need two goals to really build any confidence and settle the nerves, which are running through the team and the fans right now.
"A second goal would have put them out of sight and they could have run away with it, but it obviously wasn't to be and the pressure remains on for next weekend's clash with Aston Villa, then there's the massive game with Everton."
