Khouma Babacar scored for the second straight Italian league game to hand Fiorentina a 1-0 triumph at Serie A newcomers Carpi on Sunday.

The Senegalese striker, who had scored the winner against Genoa last weekend, struck the only goal of the game in the 35th minute.

Manuel Pasqual fed Babacar in the box and his first attempt was blocked but he tapped in the rebound to beat Carpi goalkeeper Francesco Benussi.

Fiorentina, who went into the contest on the back of a 2-1 home loss to Basle in Thursday's Europa League Group I opener, held on for their third win of the campaign to climb to third in the standings.

Carpi have just one point from their opening four games.
