Udinese 1 - 2 Empoli: Late Massimo Maccarone goal snatches win for Empoli
Posted Sunday, September 20, 2015 by PA
Massimo Maccarone scored a stoppage-time winner as Empoli clinched a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Udinese at the Stadio Friuli.
The Bianconeri were looking for their first home win of the Serie A season on Saturday night and Duvan Zapata's 19th-minute opener put them on the right track, the Colombian heading home Antonio Di Natale's cross.
But substitute Leandro Paredes equalised for Empoli from the penalty spot after Panagiotis Kone was dismissed for bringing him down in the area.
And two minutes into stoppage time, veteran striker Maccarone beat Orestis Karnezis with a right-footed drive after connecting with Riccardo Saponara's assist.
