Hartlepool United FC 0 - 0 Cambridge United: Honours even between Hartlepool and Cambridge

Hartlepool and Cambridge played out a drab Sky Bet League Two 0-0 draw at Victoria Park.

The hosts controlled proceedings throughout, but were left to rue several missed opportunities as a Cambridge side with little intent shared the spoils.

After an incident-free opening spell, Pools began to exert some pressure and nearly opened the scoring when Michael Woods' scuffed effort found Rakish Bingham - only for goalkeeper Chris Dunn to deny the striker.

An even better chance went begging soon after, centre-back Scott Harrison seeing his header cleared off the line.

The hosts continued to dominate, with Brad Halliday unfortunate not to score a wonder goal when denied by Dunn from point-blank range after beating three men.

Pools were lucky to head into the break level, though, as Mark Roberts got in the way of team-mate Leon Legge's goal-bound volley.

Ronnie Moore's men quickly responded after the interval, with Bingham spurning two excellent openings.

And those misses were to prove costly as, despite spending most of their time in Cambridge's half, Hartlepool failed to grab a winner.
