Robert Thomson's double helped Brechin to their first Ladbrokes League One win of the season as they beat 10-man Peterhead 3-2.

Thomson gave the visitors a 10th-minute lead with a stunning strike but Peterhead drew level 15 minutes later, Scott Ross finding Shane Sutherland in space inside the box.

Dene Shields soon restored Brechin's lead when he converted Willie Dyer's cross before Peterhead's Rory McAllister made it 2-2 after 38 minutes with a close-range finish.

Ryan Strachan went close for the home side with a stunning effort that was saved well by Graeme Smith, before Brechin's Thomson escaped his marker in the box to net a third for City.

Peterhead's hopes of a late comeback were soon dashed when Scott Ross was dismissed for violent conduct three minutes from time, as bottom side Brechin picked up their first points of the campaign.
