Blackburn Rovers vs Charlton Athletic preview - Tommy Spurr missing for Blackburn against Charlton

Full-back Tommy Spurr is missing for winless Blackburn's clash with Charlton at Ewood Park.

Spurr received a whack to the face in the early moments of Rovers' 2-2 draw with Fulham on Wednesday and was knocked unconscious, so he will sit out in east Lancashire because of concussion.

Markus Olsson will therefore fill in for Spurr at left-back and midfielder Lee Williamson (back) will also return to Gary Bowyer's squad.

Chris Taylor (groin) will play in a friendly next week while striker Chris Brown (knee) and midfielder Jason Lowe (foot) remain absent.

Charlton manager Guy Luzon is likely to recall Alou Diarra in place of Naby Sarr after watching his team lose 2-1 at home to Huddersfield on Tuesday evening.

Diarra, 34, had been rested because of concerns over his ability to play a second game in four days, having impressed in the 1-1 draw against Rotherham last weekend.

Simon Makienok is expected to retain his starting position after returning to the first XI on Tuesday in place of Igor Vetokele.

Goalkeeper Nick Pope is again expected to play, despite a disappointing performance against Huddersfield, because of the club's lack of suitable alternatives.
