Ramos blow for Los Blancos

Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez has been dealt a massive blow with the news Sergio Ramos dislocated his shoulder against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old defender was on the receiving end of a stern challenge from Shakhtar midfielder Taras Stepanenko in the second half of Real's 4-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Stepanenko was booked for the tackle which resulted in his dismissal, having already been cautioned, while Ramos was replaced by Nacho on 59 minutes.

Subsequent scans have revealed the extent of the damage and the Spain international, who has started all four La Liga games for Los Blancos this season, is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

A statement from the Spanish club read: "Following the tests carried out on Sergio Ramos today in the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, the player has been diagnosed with dislocated acromioclavicular joint in his left shoulder. His condition will be evaluated."
