FUTURE UNCERTAIN: Ronaldo could be sold

The Portuguese goal machine has consistently been linked with a return to Manchester United, as well as a potential move to Paris St-Germain.

Now the Mirror have pointed out the contrast between Perez's stance on Ronaldo two years ago, as opposed to now.

In 2013, the club's president said: "Be sure that Cristiano Ronaldo will retire at Real Madrid, because he wants to retire here, like Zinedine Zidane and so man other great players."

Now, Perez's stance is not so certain.

He said: "Cristiano Ronaldo has a contract and we want him to stay in the future, but in this life you can’t be sure of anything.”

The former United ace has three years left on his current deal at the Bernabeu and will be 33 by the time it expires.

He is showing no sign of letting up with age, and scored five times in a 6-0 rout of Espanyol at the weekend.

But the consensus at Real is that the club view Gareth Bale as the long term main man in attack and it no longer seems impossible for Ronaldo to be sold.

MLS is another possible destination for the Portugal captain, with new club Los Angeles FC interested in bringing him in ahead of their debut campaign in 2018.

Former United boss David Moyes admitted last year that the club tried to sign Ronaldo again during 2013.
