Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed Sergio Aguero will miss their opening Champions League group clash against Juventus on Tuesday.

Pellegrini confirms Aguero absence

The Argentina international was withdrawn in the first half of the win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday with a knee injury.

While the full extent of the injury remains unknown, Pellegrini confirmed that the striker will be sidelined for the visit of Juventus.

"Aguero is not fit for tomorrow. He has an injury to his knee. David Silva and Raheem Sterling are fit," he said in his pre-match press conference.

Pellegrini, however, is confident others in the squad will step up and cover for Aguero's absence.

"We have Wilfried [Bony] and Sterling can also play as a forward so we have different options. I trust this squad 100 per cent," he added.
