Italy striker Eder set the ball rolling as Sampdoria maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-0 victory over 10-man Bologna.
The Brazilian-born forward opened the scoring 15 minutes from time at Stadio Luigi Ferraris after accepting Luis Muriel's pass and firing low past goalkeeper Antonio Mirante.
By that point, the visitors had been playing with a numerical disadvantage for 13 minutes as midfielder Luca Rizzo was sent off for picking up two quick bookings.
Bologna's misery was complete with 12 minutes remaining when midfielder Roberto Soriano smashed a rising drive into the top corner to cement the win.
