Napoli are still searching for their first win of the Serie A season after being held to a 2-2 draw by Empoli.

Riccardo Sapponara put the home side ahead in the third minute when he fired in a left-footed shot from inside the area past Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

Lorenzo Insigne equalised for Napoli four minutes later when he found space just outside the box and drilled a diagonal shot past Empoli goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski.

Empoli hit back in the 18th minute when Manuel Pucciarelli was left unmarked in the box and slammed a right-footed shot past Reina.

Napoli, whose new coach Maurizio Sarri was in charge of Empoli for the previous three seasons, pulled level five minutes after the restart when Manolo Gabbiadini set up Allan in the box and his shot towards the near post beat Skorupski.

The visitors had a great chance to take the lead in the 61st minute after Insigne set up Gonzalo Higuain in the box but for the Argentinian fired wide from close range.

Empoli held on for their first point of the campaign, while Napoli had to settle for a second draw in three games.
