MANCHESTER CITY are set to miss out on their prime summer transfer target Paul Pogba who they face on Tuesday night.

The Juventus star, it can be revealed, is heading for Barcelona whose transfer embargo ends in January.

City chased the former Manchester United youngsters throughout the last transfer window but weren’t prepared to meet the asking price of more than £70 million.

Now it’s believed recent negotiations between Juventus and Barcelona representatives has cleared the path to a move to the Spanish giants next summer.

It’s a blow to City who still have designs on the player who was allowed to leave Old Trafford for Italy after believing his opportunities were limited at United.

But Pogba will be arriving at the Etihad in two days time for the Champions League group game between the two clubs.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini admitted: “He’s a good player, a young player and has a good future.”

Asked about City’s links with Pogba he added: “There were a lot of rumours but I don’t talk about them. Close or not close, he’s not here.”
