Port Vale 3 - 2 Wigan Athletic : Port Vale snatch late winner against 10-man Wigan

Uche Ikpeazu struck his fourth goal of the season in the first minute of stoppage time to earn Port Vale a thrilling 3-2 victory over Wigan.

Vale took the lead with the game's first clear opportunity when Anthony Grant capitalised on an errant pass from Chris McCann in the 34th minute, before driving an unstoppable shot inside Richard O'Donnell's right-hand post.

Even a change of approach from Wigan couldn't stop Vale, and it was no surprise when they extended their lead in the 64th minute.

The visitors failed to clear a left wing corner from Sam Foley and Louis Dodds crashed a right-foot shot into the top right-hand corner of O'Donnell's net from eight yards.

Wigan needed a lifeline and they got one two minutes later when Craig Davies pulled the ball back from the right byline and McCann fired a powerful left-foot shot from 12 yards.

The goal opened up the game as the visitors threatened an equaliser and Vale also went close to wrapping up the points with a third goal, before Leon Barnett's header levelled the scores six minutes from time.

Barnett was then sent off for a professional foul on Enoch Andoh in the 88th minute and Ikpeazu slammed home the winner after Wigan failed to clear their lines from the resulting free-kick.
