Port Vale vs Wigan Athletic preview - Port Vale with plenty of options for Wigan clash

Port Vale boss Rob Page is hoping to be spoiled for choice as he tries to pick a team for Saturday's Sky Bet League One clash with Wigan.

Midfielder Sam Foley is expected to be available after missing the 1-0 Johnstone Paint Trophy victory over Carlisle with a hamstring strain, but has now returned to training.

Defender Ryan Inniss and striker Byron Moore sat out the cup-tie through illness, but both have since recovered and are in contention for the Latics' visit to Vale Park.

However, midfielder Michael O'Connor continues to work his way back to full fitness after returning to training following a knee injury suffered during pre-season.

Will Grigg and Jonjoe Kenny will come back into the Wigan fold following international duty.

Striker Grigg was away with Northern Ireland while full-back Kenny was called up to the England Under-19s, meaning they both missed out when Latics produced a stirring comeback to defeat Chesterfield 3-2.

Grant Holt continued his comeback from a long-term cruciate injury by playing 55 minutes for the development squad on Wednesday but he will need more time with that group before coming into first-team consideration.

Tim Chow (ankle) missed that game and full-back Kevin McNaughton (knee) and Don Cowie (calf) are also on the treatment table.
