Cardiff City vs Huddersfield Town preview - Cardiff sweating on international players for Huddersfield clash

Cardiff manager Russell Slade must check on his international players before naming his side for the Sky Bet Championship visit of Huddersfield.

David Marshall, Anthony Pilkington, Aron Gunnarsson and Bruno Manga were all involved for their respective countries during the international break.

But Slade is expected to name the same team which has beaten Wolves and Nottingham Forest in their last two league games to move into the top five of the division.

Defender Ben Turner (ankle) and striker Federico Macheda (back) are definitely out.

Huddersfield's new loan signing Jed Steer is expected to go straight into the starting line-up as goalkeeper Joe Murphy is ruled out through injury.

Steer, who arrived in time from Aston Villa on a 28-day loan on Friday, could be joined in the side by another new loan signing, Elliott Ward, who is likely to start as skipper Mark Hudson is ruled out against his former club due to an ankle injury.

Midfielders Jamie Paterson and Emyr Huws, hoping to shake off an ankle injury, could make their first appearances for the club and fellow new loan recruit Mustapha Carayol is hoping to make his first start.

Manager Chris Powell has hinted teenage striker Flo Bojaj could feature after impressing for the reserves, but James Vaughan sustained a knock in training and will not feature.
