Southend are expected to recall winger Myles Weston for the visit of Shrewsbury after his return from international duty with Antigua and Barbuda.

Goalkeeper Ted Smith and defender Glen Rea are also available to manager Phil Brown after their respective spells away with the England Under-20 and Republic of Ireland Under-21 sides.

Defender Cian Bolger played in a behind-closed-doors game against Peterborough this week and could feature after recovering from a shoulder injury.

Southend have doubts over winger Kevan Hurst (knee) and full-back Ben Coker (hamstring).

James Wesolowski is sidelined for the season for Shrewsbury after his second serious knee injury of the year.

The midfielder damaged cruciate knee ligaments again after initially suffering the injury in February.

Boss Micky Mellon is searching for midfield options after losing Ryan Woods to Brentford on deadline day following Wesolowski's injury and is running the rule over ex-Rangers midfielder Ian Black and former Sheffield Wednesday man Rhys McCabe.

Nathaniel Knight-Percival is fully fit again after his cruciate knee ligament injury and started his first league game of the season in last Saturday's 2-1 win at Barnsley.
