Newport County vs Morecambe preview - Newport low on numbers for Morecambe clash

Posted Friday, September 11, 2015 by PA

Bottom club Newport are without several players for Morecambe's League Two visit on Saturday.

Wingers Alex Rodman (calf) and Nathan Ralph (hamstring) remain sidelined and defender Matt Taylor (bruised foot) has yet to appear in a competitive clash for County this term following his pre-season injury.

Manager Terry Butcher's problems grew last weekend when defender Danny Holmes was sent off late on in the 3-0 home defeat to York.

Young Liam Angel could make his senior debut while midfielder Josh Laurent, on loan from Brentford, hopes to make his first league start for the club.

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley has no new injury or suspension concerns as his side chases a fourth straight win in all competitions.

Striker Tom Barkhuizen completed his first full 90 minutes of the season in last week's 4-2 win at Yeovil and is expected to resume, while winger Lee Molyneux and midfielder Kevin Ellison are pushing for starts.

Molyneux stepped off the bench to score his first goal for the club last Saturday, while Ellison returned to contention and was among the substitutes following a three-game ban.

Skipper Peter Murphy (knee) and fellow defender Shaun Beeley (hamstring) remain sidelined.
