Reading vs Ipswich preview - Matej Vydra set for Reading debut against Ipswich

Matej Vydra is set to make his Reading debut at home to Ipswich.

The Watford striker joined the Royals on loan on transfer deadline day along with Chelsea forward Lucas Piazon and Benfica winger Ola John, who could also be added to the squad.

Centre-half Paul McShane is a doubt with a back injury and young striker Dominic Samuel remains sidelined by a knee problem.

Clarke will assess the fitness of defender Michael Hector - who signed for Chelsea on deadline day but was loaned back to the Royals - midfielder Danny Williams and winger Paolo Hurtado, with the trio not due back from international duty until Thursday.

Town manager Mick McCarthy expects to have centre-back Christophe Berra available, along with strikers Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick.

Berra has recovered from the hamstring injury which ruled him out of the 3-2 home defeat by Brighton before the international break.

Murphy had been sidelined recently by a calf problem, while McGoldrick was forced out of the Republic of Ireland squad because of a minor groin complaint.

Midfielders Kevin Bru and Teddy Bishop (both hamstring) have returned to training and are set to play for the Under-21s at Birmingham on Monday.
