JOHN STONES could be good enough for Real Madrid, according to former Everton scout Tony Henry.

Chelsea and Manchester United both made moves for Stones this summer with the Blues latest bid coming in at a staggering £38million.

But Everton resisted the sale - and Stones' transfer request - to keep hold of their prized asset.

And the man who found the 21-year-old at Barnsley and convinced David Moyes to bring him to Goodison Park has backed him for an even bigger move if he continues his progress.

"John will still make mistakes but in two years, I think he could be anywhere. He could be at Real Madrid," Henry told the Liverpool Echo.

"I'm glad he stayed at Everton because if he had gone to Chelsea or Manchester United he would have played, but I feel it may have been too much for him at the moment.

"But playing at Everton, alongside Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman, will bring him on even more.

"But that he is now a regular in the England squad speaks volumes of the kid. I'm delighted for him."
