Dumbarton 0 - 2 Alloa Athletic : Graeme Holmes and Edward Ferns both score to give Alloa first victory of season

Second-half strikes from Graeme Holmes and Edward Ferns gave Alloa their first victory of the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship season, with a 2-0 scoreline at Dumbarton.

Willie Gibson and Grant Gallagher missed early chances for the hosts before Alloa's Michael Chopra and Holmes failed to hit the target after creating chances.

The Sons' Garry Fleming headed over from six yards and Alloa's David Crawford did well to save Scott Brown's close-range effort.

The Wasps took the lead after 59 minutes as Dumbarton were slow to react to a quickly-taken free-kick, with Holmes finishing neatly past Mark Brown.

Robbie Crawford sent a further chance over the bar for the visitors and Grant Gallagher came close to heading a late equaliser for Dumbarton, but Ferns sealed the win in stoppage time, firing low past Brown at the near post.
