Ings: I can learn from Sturridge

Liverpool striker Danny Ings is looking forward to playing alongside Daniel Sturridge when the former Manchester City and Chelsea forward returns to action.

Sturridge is back in England from his rehabilitation program in America, where he recovered a hip problem - the latest in a long line of injury set-backs - and although there is no date on his comeback, he could return to training soon.

Ings, an off-season arrival from Burnley, where he scored 11 goals in 35 Premier League appearances last season, is hoping to form a deadly striking partnership with the 26-year-old England international.

"He's a fantastic striker," Ings told the club's official website. "He scores many goals, he's sharp, he works hard, so it will great to have him back.

"He's another player that I can learn from. He's been doing it at the top level for many years now so it's great to have him back and I'm looking forward to working with him.

"I think everybody here has different qualities as strikers and it's only better for all of us to learn from each other - and especially for me to learn off them, the more experienced strikers here. It's great to have so many good strikers at the club for me to learn from."

Ings missed out on Roy Hodgson's England squad for the Euro 2016 qualifiers against San Marino and Switzerland, but will be hoping to get his first start for the Reds against Manchester United at Old Trafford when the Premier League resumes next weekend.
