JONNY EVANS is in 'a better place' in life now he has moved on from Manchester United.
That's according to Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill, who reckons Evans was right to complete his £6m move to West Brom.
Evans, who won three Premier League titles with United, found first-team opportunities hard to come by under Louis van Gaal.
The defender has now called time on his 12-year Old Trafford stay and O'Neill reckons it is for the best.
He said: "He's delighted that it's been resolved.
"He's had no real experience of West Brom yet, he's not been in the door and he hasn't trained or anything like that. But I think he's just glad that it was eventually settled.
"People made a lot of his club situation.
"It wasn't ideal, not playing football. I look back at the game against Finland and even more so the game against Romania where I thought he was outstanding.
"He came in and played in those games off the back of difficult situations because he had injury problems and he hadn't been playing at Manchester United because of suspension problems.
"I think he's in a better place now before leading into those games, and he still gave us two outstanding performances so I have no concerns with him at all."
